What Are Healthy Skin Tips For Traveling?
Keep reading to learn healthy skin tips for traveling. It’s the holiday season! Serenity Aesthetics & Wellness wants to help you maintain healthy, glowing skin even while traveling abroad this holiday season. Don’t let jet lag and busy schedules prevent you from maintaining healthy skin. Follow these simple travel tips so that your skin can thrive even while on the go.
1. Drink Plenty of Water
Healthy skin is not just reliant on topicals. What you put inside your body is just as important as what you put inside it. Dehydrated skin can present itself as rough, textured, and lifeless looking. Overtime dehydrated skin can encourage the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as compromise your skin barrier. When you have downtime rather in your car, on the train, or airborne- take the down time to catch up on your fluid intake. Your skin will thank you for it in the long run.
2. Prioritize Rest When You Can
It’s a busy time of year for most, long days of traveling and long nights of celebrating can cause you to sacrifice a good nights rest. However, try to avoid it when possible. Inadequate rest can show up on the face as dark, glossy, and puffy eyes which are not ideal for holiday photos. It is recommended that the average adult receive at least 7-8 hours of sleep. On days where this is not possible, look to squeeze in naps where you can during travel.
3. Do NOT Neglect Your Skincare Routine, Especially Sunscreen
It may seem tempting to miss a day or two of doing your skincare routine. However, we all know how easily one day can turn into a week and before you know it sun damage that you’ve worked so heard to reverse has begun to peak its head again. What worst time to go through this than during holiday travel? Consider downsizing if you have a very elaborate skincare routine that feels like another exhausting chore to do this holiday season. At the very least, hold yourself accountable to using your core skincare products such as cleanser, moisturizer, and most importantly SPF 30 or higher.
If you have not done so already, check out our Essentials Kit which comes with the core products needed to maintain a healthy skin barrier this holiday season. Not checking luggage and need something that’s TSA compliant? No problem! Pair your SPF 30 or higher of choice with our Mini Hydrating Kit. Our mini hydrating kit comes equipped with Serenity’s Gentle Papaya Enzyme Cleanser, Calming Mist, Dew Drops, Replenishing Moisturizer, and a Collagen eye mask. This kit makes it more than easy to maintain healthy, hydrated skin while on the go.
4. Do NOT Fall Asleep With Makeup On
We know it can be tempting, especially during late nights, but the cons outweigh the pros. Sleeping with makeup on suffocates the skin and prevents cell regeneration from properly taking place. This can lead to the buildup up of dead skin cells, textured skin, and dullness. For those with acne prone skin, sleeping with makeup on can lead to the clogging of pores and worsen breakouts. If you are someone who doesn’t want to deal with the effort that goes into removing stubborn makeup, consider using an oil cleanser before your soap based cleanser to breakup makeup on the face. This will allow for a more efficient removal.
5. Consider Receiving a Facial Before Your Travel Begins
Here at Serenity Aesthetics & Wellness, we offer our Serenity Facial, Aerolase Neoskin Laser Rejuvenation Facial, and Aerolase Neoclear Laser Acne Facial. Our Serenity Facial is great for maintenance. If you are looking for a decongesting and exfoliating treatment to pamper yourself, then come in and treat yourself to our award winning spin on a classic facial with dermaplaning and hydrodermabrasion service for a medical grade twist. Interested in something that will help to target concerns such as hyperpigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage? Then, our Aerolase Neoskin Laser Rejuvenation Facial is perfect for you. If you are someone struggling with acne breakouts and oily skin, then book an Aerolase Neoclear Laser Acne Facial to begin targeting these concerns. To prevent excessive sun exposure, it is recommended to come in for treatment a full 7 days prior to planned travel.
