We’ve received a plethora of inquiries about our hair loss solutions provided at our Philadelphia office. So we wanted to share a bit about how we’re helping patients improve hair thinning/loss. Did you know that 35 million men and 21 million women are affected by hair loss in the US? Hair loss can be a painful topic of discussion but we believe that Knowledge is power. 

At Serenity Aesthetics & Wellness, Dr. Gina Charles provides in office hair loss consultations to help determine the cause of hair loss and identify possible solutions. There are many causes of hair loss. 

Some causes of hair loss include Autoimmune disorders such as alopecia areata (where your immune system attacks your hair follicles, hereditary hair loss, age, cancer treatment, thyroid disorders, stress, childbirth, illness, hormone imbalance, Haircare (perms, relaxers), Hairstyles that cause pulling (braids, right hairstyles), scalp infections, medications, scalp psoriasis, pulling your hair, scarring alopecia, sexually transmitted infections, biotin/iron/zinc/protein deficiency, friction or poison. 

PEP FACTOR

As far as treatments, we offer hair restoration using Platelet Rich Plasma, (which requires a blood draw and then injecting your scalp) or Pep Factor (synthetic growth factors) that get micro-needled into your scalp – no blood draw required). Both procedures provide amazing results. The main difference is the PRP requires a blood draw which then gets spun in a centrifuge in order to separate the platelets. This is then injected into your scalp. Whereas Pep factor does not require a blood draw, making it a minimally invasive procedure.
